How Long Does Blinds or Curtains Fitting Take?

A realistic timeline for made-to-measure blinds, curtains and shutters, from consultation and measure through to manufacturing and fitting.

Made-to-measure window dressings take longer than picking something off a shelf, for good reason — every step is built specifically for your windows. Here’s a realistic idea of the timeline, so you can plan around it.

1. Design consultation and measure

We visit your home to discuss what you’re after, show fabric and material samples in your actual room light, and take precise measurements. This usually happens within a week or two of getting in touch, depending on how soon suits your schedule.

2. Quote and confirmation

After the consultation, we put together an itemised quote covering fabric, lining, hardware and fitting. Once you’re happy and confirm the order (usually with a deposit), manufacturing begins.

3. Manufacturing

This is where most of the timeline sits, and it varies by product: simple roller blinds are often the quickest to produce, while interlined curtains, Roman blinds, and bespoke shutters take longer given the additional hand-finishing involved. As a general guide, expect several weeks from confirmed order to manufactured product — we’ll always give you a specific estimate for your order at confirmation stage, since it depends on the product, fabric availability, and current workload.

4. Fitting

Once manufactured, fitting itself is usually completed in a single visit for most homes — a few hours for a typical order, longer for a whole-house job or multiple bay windows with bent tracks or tiered shutters. Our in-house fitting team handles this from start to finish.

What can extend the timeline

  • Out-of-stock or backordered fabric or hardware from our suppliers, particularly for newly released collections.
  • Bespoke or complex products like tiered shutters or a bent track fitted around an unusual bay.
  • Motorised systems requiring additional lead time for the specific motor and control components.
  • Busy seasonal periods — the run-up to Christmas and the new year tends to be our busiest time, so booking earlier helps if you have a date in mind.

Planning around a deadline

If you have a specific date in mind — moving in, hosting an event, or finishing a renovation — tell us at the consultation stage. We’ll always be upfront about whether it’s realistic for your chosen products, and can suggest faster-turnaround alternatives (typically simpler roller blinds over bespoke shutters) if the date is tight. Getting your own measurements ready beforehand also helps — see our measuring guide.
